SERVICE VALVES LEAKING

It is common for old service valves to leak refrigerant around the seals - especially after closing and re-opening the valves.

WHAT TO DO:

The cap for the service valves should be able to tighten-down enough to keep the refrigerant sealed.

  1. Add either "leak-lock" or "pipe-dope" to the cap and threads.
  2. Tighten cap with a large crescent wrench.
    • Get the cap as tight as possible without stripping the threads.
  3. Re-check for leaking around the cap with an electronic leak detector.
