Re: Code 6

Code 6 = Condensate Overflow

  • The condensate overflow sensor must sense overflow level for 30 continuous seconds to be recognized as a CO fault.
  • Condensate overflow will be monitored at all times.

Qty Possible Causes:
2 Clogged Drain Hose
Double-Trapped Drain
1 Clogged Drain Line
Shorted CO Sensor

CHECKOUT:

1. Check CO (Condensate Overflow) Sensor

  • Turn off power to the unit.
  • Open the blower door to access the coil and drain pan.
  • Inspect drain pan to see if it is full of water.
  • Inspect the CO sensor to ensure that it is not touching anything.

2. Check Drain Hose

  • Inspect the clear, rubber drain hose connecting the coil to the drain outlet.
    • Very common for the hose to become clogged.

3. Check Drain Line

  • If the unit is internally trapped (rubber drain hose), there must be an open air vent in the pvc drain immediately upon exiting the unit.

4. Test Drainage System

  • Test the drainage system by manually filling the drain pan with water.
  • Ensure that water exits the drain promptly and completely.
