A package unit that is low on refrigerant indicates a refrigerant leak.


Qty Possible Causes (From Most to Least Likely):
1 Leaking Indoor Coil
Leaking Outdoor Coil
Leaking Schrader
Other Leak

Step 1. Identify the Leak

  • Leak-check the unit with an electronic leak detector to find the location of the leak.

Step 2. Leak Repair

  • If the system has lost more than 2lbs over 1 year, the leaking component should be replaced.
  • If the system has lost 2lbs or less over 1 year, Leak-Stop Dye should be added to the system.
    • Manufacturer warranties do not pay for the addition of Leak-Stop
