Sanyo Variable Refrigerant Flow:

Re: Error Code P04 / Fault Code P04

P04 = High Pressure switch tripped on outdoor unit.

♦ The compressor contactor overload is wired in series with the high pressure switch, so be aware that an overload trip may also cause a Code P04.

Possible Causes (From Most to Least Likely):

  1. Phase Loss (Overload Trip)
  2. Condenser Fan Failure
  3. Bad Pressure Switch
  4. Refrigerant Overcharge
  5. Dirty Outdoor Coil

CHECKOUT

  1. Confirm Lockout Condition
    • Check LED1 & LED2 on the outdoor unit control board.
      • LED1 Flashes: 2=P Alarm, 3=H Alarm, 4=E Alarm, 5=F Alarm, 6=L Alarm
      • LED2 Flashes = Alarm No.
      • See Related Articles for Alarm Description
  2. Reset Compressor Overloads
    • Each compressor contactor has a white button on the right side.
    • Push the button in to reset.
  3. Cycle Power
    • Turn off power to the unit(s) & wait until all LEDs go off.
    • Turn power back on & give the unit(s) 5 minutes to either restart or flash an error code.
